
Havoc, Ice Flyers Split Shootouts

HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Huntsville Havoc and the Pensacola Ice Flyers split two shootouts on Friday and Saturday nights with each team coming away with 4-3 wins.
Friday, February 2 - Pensacola 3, Huntsville 4 - SO
HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Huntsville Havoc and Pensacola Ice Flyers swapped goals for three periods and the Havoc took the win in shootout 4-3.
Andrew Howes put the Ice Flyers on the board first just 4:17 into the game when he scored an unassisted goal. Justin Fox tied the game at 1-1 with 10:08 left in the period. Mike MacDonald and Ray Ortiz assisted on the goal. Mike Carter gave Pensacola a 2-1 lead at the first intermission when he scored with 3:39 left.
Glenn Detulleo scored the only goal of the second period with 3:53 left and the game was tied 2-2 at the end of two periods.
Andrew Harrison scored 1:43 into the third period to put Pensacola back up 3-2 before Ryan Kretzer found the back of the net with 7:51 remaining to tie the game at 3-3.
Matt Hache made four saves in overtime and stopped four of five shots faced in the shootout to get the win. Kretzer and Fox both scored on Corey Milan in the shootout as Fox picked up the game-winner.
Saturday, February 3 - Pensacola 4, Huntsville 3 - SO
HUNTSVILLE, AL - In the reverse from last night, the Pensacola Ice Flyers took a 4-3 shootout win over the Huntsville Havoc on Saturday night in front of 5,640 fans.
Huntsville got in the board first when Ray Ortiz scored with 8:01 left in the first period.
Pensacola tied the game at 1-1 with 14:24 left in the second period. Justin Fox put the Havoc back up 2-1 with 12:05 remaining in the second.
Jordan Chong evened the score at 2-2 with 3:45 left in the second and Ryan Ramage gave the Ice Flyers the 3-2 less than a minute later.
Fox scored his second goal of the night with 17:47 left in the third period.
Shane Ferguson and Andrew Howes scored on the first two shots of the shootout for Pensacola and Jeff Hazelwood and Stuart Stefan scored on the last two shots for the Havoc to send the shootout into extra frames. Mike Carter scored the game-winner for Pensacola on the seventh shootout.
Kevin Beech made 30 saves in the loss for the Havoc while Corey Milan made 29 in the win.
