Saskatoon Blades News Release
The Saskatoon Blades (31-19-0-1) are looking for their 3rd straight win as they play host to the Moose Jaw Warriors tomorrow night. The Blades follow up that game by also hosting the Medicine Hat Tigers on Saturday.
The Blades are coming off of a hard-fought, 3-1 win over the Swift Current Broncos on Tuesday night. That win has allowed the Blades to stick in 5th place in the WHL's Eastern Conference with 63 points. That total puts them one point behind Medicine Hat and one point ahead of Kootenay.
The game against Moose Jaw marks the 5th meeting of the season between the Blades and the Warriors. Saskatoon has won only one of the first four meetings of the year against Moose Jaw. Here's how the first meetings have gone this season between the clubs:
- 4-3 Blades win in Saskatoon on October 11th
- 3-2 Blades loss in Moose Jaw on November 4th
- 4-2 Blades loss in Saskatoon on December 16th
- 2-1 Blades loss in Moose Jaw on January 27th
Saskatoon went 6-2 against the Warriors last season.
The Saskatoon Blades have a pair of players back in the lineup for the game after they spent much of the week in Kelowna, competing in the CHL Top Prospects event.
Lukas Sutter and Dalton Thrower both took part in the skills competition and the game in front of thousands of fans and hundreds of NHL scouts. Both players were a part of Team Orr, who won the game on Wednesday night, defeating Team Cherry by a score of 2-1.
Neither player hit the scoreboard, but Thrower did fight Plymouth's Tom Wilson after the big forward hit Lukas Sutter very hard in the second period.
Both of the Blades games this weekend carry major standings significance so make sure you head out to the Credit Union Centre to take in the great action. Saskatoon Blades Hockey, It Starts Here!
