Abbotsford Heat News Release

Rochester, NY - The Abbotsford Heat open their final stretch of 32 regular season games after the All-Star break tonight with their first visit to the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, NY to open a four-game season series with the Americans.

Fresh off his second straight AHL All-Star game, 25-year-old defender Brian Connelly will make his Heat debut tonight - arriving in the deal that sent Brendan Morrison to the Chicago Blackhawks. The Minnesota product arrives as the Heat's new team leader in assists with 31 in just 44 games. His 36 points are second to just Krys Kolanos' 40 points in 34 games this season. Connelly met new teammates Clay Wilson and Krys Kolanos - prior to Kolanos' signing and recall to Calgary - at the AHL All-Star game in Atlantic City this past weekend and joined the team on the road.

Leland Irving will be back in Heat silks tonight after being assigned to the Heat following 59 days with the Flames. Irving is stunningly just three wins off the AHL pace-setting mark of 18, despite missing nearly two months of the season. Irving suffered just a single regulation loss in four appearances during the first NHL call-up of his career.

Tonight's contest can be heard on Country 107.1 FM from 5:00 PM onward, and in its entirety online at theAHL.com with the pre-game show beginning at 3:45, with puck drop slated for 4:00. Tomorrow's second affair in Rochester begins a half-hour later at 4:30.
