HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Huntsville Havoc won two games at home beating the Louisiana Ice Gators 4-3 on Thursday and taking down first place Augusta 3-2 in overtime on Saturday night.
Thursday, January 26 - Louisiana 3, Huntsville 4
HUNTSVILLE, AL - Mike MacDonald scored with 5:52 left in the third period lifting the Huntsville Havoc to a 4-3 win over the Louisiana Ice Gators Thursday night.
Dennis Sicard scored first for the Havoc with a nice re-direct goal off the crossing pass from Glenn Detulleo with 8:30 left in the first period. Jeff Hazelwood, playing in his first game for the Havoc, scored on the powerplay with 6:07 left and the Havoc had a 2-0 lead. Robert Short cut the lead to 2-1 with just over a minute left in the first period.
Alex Morton tied the game at 2-2 with 10:55 left in the second before Detulleo put the Havoc back up 3-2 with 9:23 left.
Brayden Metz tied the game at 3-3 with 14:51 to go in the third period setting up the game-winner by MacDonald.
Kevin Beech made 32 saves in the win while B.J. O'Brien made 27 in the loss.
Saturday, January 28 - Augusta 2, Huntsville 3 - OT
HUNTSVILLE, AL - Jeff Hazelwood scored with :25 left in overtime sending 5,431 fans home happy as the Huntsville Havoc beat the Augusta RiverHawks 3-2 Saturday night.
The game looked to be all Augusta early in the first period as Egor Mironov scored just 5:12 into the game. Branden Kosolofsky chased Havoc goaltender Kevin Beech from the game when he scored with 11:21 remaining in the period.
Dennis Sicard scored his13th goal of the season with 9:27 remaining in the first to cut the lead to 2-1.
Scott Duncan scored his first goal of the season with 4:12 left in the second to tie the game at 2-2.
Matt Hache replaced Beech and stopped all 34 shots he faced. Peter Skoggard made 21 saves in the loss.
