Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
Waterloo, Iowa-A.J. Michaelson recorded a goal and an assist Tuesday during the USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in Muskegon, Michigan, but the Eastern Conference rallied to top the West 5-3.
Michaelson, a Black Hawks rookie, opened the scoring 6:26 into the first period. Seven-and-a-half minutes later, he assisted on a goal by Austin Farley of the Fargo Force, which made the score 2-0. However, the Eastern Conference took control from there, scoring three straight goals and getting the winner from Jeff Kubiak at 7:24 of the third period to break a 3-3 tie.
Participants in the game were chosen by NHL team officials and USHL general managers. The 40 players involved were considered the top, currently-undrafted, professional prospects in the league. Besides Michaelson, the Black Hawks were represented by forward Vince Hinostroza and Taylor Cammarata, defenseman Ian McCoshen, and goaltender Jay Williams.
