Long Island Ducks News Release
(Central Islip, N.Y., Jan. 20, 2012) - The Long Island Ducks are currently seeking members of the Long Island community that are interested in becoming host families for a Ducks player during the 2012 baseball season.
Hosting a player provides a rare opportunity to get involved with the Long Island Ducks on a personal level. Players will often become an "adopted member of your family" during their time on Long Island and beyond, staying in touch with their host families for years to come. Each season, hosting a player has been an extremely positive experience for both the players and the families.
"The family was unbelievable," said outfielder Matt Esquivel regarding the Haas Family of Kings Park, who has hosted players during each of the last six seasons. "They were always there for us and were very accommodating, even when we got back late from road trips. I can't say enough about them!"
The Ducks make the requirements to be a host family very simple. If you can provide a private bedroom along with use of a bathroom, washer/dryer and kitchen for a Long Island Duck, then you can be a host. Any other amenities that you are willing and able to provide will be greatly appreciated by your player.
