
Former Phillies GM Added to Cutters Hot Stove

The Williamsport Crosscutters have announced their 6th Annual Hot Stove Dinner & Auction with the Phillies will be held on Monday, January 23 at the Genetti Hotel in Williamsport presented by HB Rentals, Woodlands Bank, the Williamsport Sun-Gazette and WRAK Radio.
Added to the guest list is former Philadelphia Phillies General Manager Ed Wade. Wade has served in numerous roles for the Phillies including as General Manager from 1998-2005. Wade served as the General Manager of the Houston Astros from September 2007 through the 2011 season. He returned to the Phillies in December as a Special Consultant to the baseball operations department.
During his time as GM in Philadelphia, Wade's staff drafted Chase Utley, Ryan Howard, Pat Burrell, Cole Hamels, Ryan Madson and Brett Myers, all of whom were contributors on the 2008 World Series championship team. He also acquired Jim Thome, Shane Victorino and Billy Wagner.
Previously announced special guests include; Philadelphia Phillies General Manager Ruben Amaro, Jr., Phillies broadcaster Tom McCarthy, Phils' assistant director of minor leagues Steve Noworyta, 2012 Cutters manager Andy Tracy and the Phillie Phanatic along with the latest Bowman Field Hall of Fame inductee Dave Bresnahan, who pulled off the Great Potato Caper in 1987.
A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit Andrew's Special Kids Foundation. Established in 2006 by Dean and Amy Kriebel, the foundation's mission is to "Provide special needs children with every opportunity in life which will enable them to reach their full potential by providing them with adaptive equipment, special education opportunities, safety equipment, therapies and financial assistance for out of state travel."
The evening will consist of dinner, an entertainment portion, featuring interviews and question and answer segments with many of the special guests, plus Chinese and live auctions of Phillies & other sports memorabilia by auctioneers Sam Astin and Tim Gehron.
The dinner and entertainment portion of the event will begin promptly at 6:30 PM, preceded by an hour of mingling, fun and games with Boomer and the Phillie Phanatic, plus the start of the Chinese auction. Free autographs will be available for attendees at the close of event.
