Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release
MUSKEGON, Mich. (January 16, 2012) - Muskegon hockey legends Robin Bouchard, Jock Callander and Scott Feasby will make their returns to the L.C. Walker Arena ice Saturday, Feb. 11 in the Red Wings Alumni Game.
Retired Red Wings greats Mickey Redmond, Jimmy Carson and Kris Draper are also scheduled to play in the contest, which makes its return after a two-year absence. But while the Detroit alumni are sure to thrill, the presence of Bouchard, Callander, Feasby and others will add a distinctly Muskegon feel to the nostalgic event.
In addition, the Lumberjacks announced that Bouchard's No. 32 will be retired in a formal ceremony prior to the Jacks' game against the Youngstown Phantoms Friday, Feb. 10 at 7:15 p.m. He will join Callander and Feasby as one of only 10 players to be so honored in the annals of Muskegon hockey.
"This is an opportunity to celebrate Muskegon hockey history and rekindle the relationship with fellow players and fans," said Lumberjacks President/COO and Muskegon native Tim Taylor. "We are trying to reach out further than we have in the past, to all the guys who have been a part of our hockey community."
Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. VIP tickets - available for only $20 - include access to a special postgame event at the Lake House, where valuable NHL memorabilia, including a signed Henrik Zetterberg Red Wings jersey, and other great prizes will be auctioned off.
Tickets for the game are on sale at the L.C. Walker Arena box office, as well as on StarTickets.com and at your local Meijer. Call (231) 724-JACK(5225) for more information.
The all-time leading goal scorer in minor-league hockey history, Bouchard defined the term "fan favorite" during his stay in Muskegon, which covered parts of 13 seasons. 550 of his record 687 professional goals came while wearing the crests of the Fury and the Lumberjacks. He was part of four teams that won Colonial Cups, emblematic of United Hockey League supremacy.
Bouchard finished his pro career with a remarkable 60-goal, 101-point season in 2009-10, as the Jacks played their final season in the International Hockey League. He topped the 40-goal plateau nine times, scoring more than 50 on four occasions. Born in Jonquiere, Quebec, he now makes his permanent home in Muskegon.
Callander spent eight seasons with the Lumberjacks of the original IHL, donning the black and gold from 1984 to 1992. The Jacks claimed three regular-season league crowns and two Turner Cup playoff titles with Callander in the Port City.
The Regina, Saskatchewan, native won the IHL points race and the league MVP award in 1986-87, as he turned in a career-best 136-point season. He was part of the "Muskegon Line" that was called up to the NHL in 1992, eventually helping the Pittsburgh Penguins to their second straight Stanley Cup title.
Like Callander's No. 15, Feasby's No. 20 is hanging from the rafters of L.C. Walker Arena. A defenseman who served as team captain, the Ontario product manned the blueline for the Fury in 12 consecutive seasons from 1993-2005.
Like Bouchard, Feasby won four UHL championships (1999, 2002, 2004, 2005) and worked double duty as player/assistant coach for two seasons. His best statistical season was 2000-01, when he racked up career highs in goals (10) and points (38) and threw in 138 penalty minutes in 72 games.
