Dubuque Fighting Saints News Release
SIOUX FALLS, South Dakota - The Fighting Saints will close out the first half of the season with a game against the Stampede in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, tonight at 7:05 p.m. A win will give the Fighting Saints nineteen victories over the course of the first thirty games of the 2011-12 slate. The two teams met just over two weeks ago in Dubuque, with the Fighting Saints prevailing 4-0 to earn *Matt Morris'* first shutout of the year, and the team's third.
The Stampede have struggled to generate offense this season, averaging a league-worst 2.32 goals per game. The defense has been somewhat better, allowing 3.14 goals per game, good for ninth in the USHL. The team has stabilized their record somewhat, compiling a 3-4-0 mark over their last seven games after enduring a five-game losing streak in December.
Tonight's game is the only game of the week for the Fighting Saints, who will play three games in three days over each of the next two weekends. The team returns home for a meeting with Team USA on Thursday, followed by a trip to Cedar Rapids on Friday, and a matchup with the conference rival Indiana Ice on Saturday night. Pregame coverage for tonight's game begins at 6:35 on Dubuque's Super Hits 106 and SuperHits106.com.
