Day One of Admirals Cup Completed

Milwaukee, WI-Marquette University High, Brookfield, Cedarburg and WNS all won their first round games of the sixth annual Admirals Cup, presented by Bradley Corporation, on Friday at Wilson Park.
Marquette senior forward Joe Llaurado scored four goals and added two assists to help the Hilltoppers to an 8-1 victory over the Greendale Ice Force in the first game of the tournament. Fellow forward Griff Jeszka chipped in with a goal and two assists, while goalie Mike Roznik earned the win. Greendale's Joe Jensen earned the lone tally for the Ice Force.
Brookfield forward Patrick O'Brien broke a 2-2 tie with a third period goal as the Brookfield Stars topped the Germantown Ice Bears 3-2 in game two. O'Brien finished the game with a pair of markers, while Jake Murnane stopped 16 shots to earn the win for the Bears. Ben Lena and Woody Fahler lit the lamp for the Ice Dogs.
In game three, Cedarburg freshman forward Evan Gabel scored his team's first two goals and assisted on their third as the Bulldogs took a 4-2 win over the Kettle Moraine Lasers. Cedarburg goalie Tyler Jansen was impressive in net, making 39 saves while earning the victory. Sam Hart and Justin Yute scored picked up goals for the Lasers.
The lone upset of the day came in the fourth game as the sixth seeded WNS Storm topped the Arrowhead Warhawks 2-1 in a low-scoring affair. WNS netminder Sean Leahy surrendered just one goal to earn the win, while the Storm got power-play markers from Thomas Aiken in the first and Jack Hoge in the second period to account for their scoring. Garrett Opay picked up the Warhawks lone goal.
The Admirals Cup continues with four games on Monday, December 26th, two at Wilson Park and two at the Bradley Center. Marquette faces Brookfield at 11 am at Wilson Park and Cedarburg battles WNS at 1 pm in the championship bracket at Wilson Park, while Greendale takes on Germantown at 12:06 and Kettle Moraine squares off with Arrowhead at 2:46 at the BC.
The championship game will take place at the Bradley Center at 2:46 on Wednesday, December 28th prior the Admirals 7:00 pm game versus the Chicago Wolves.
