Youngstown Phantoms News Release
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Youngstown Phantoms delivered the stuffed animals from their third annual Teddy Bear Toss to Akron Children's Hospital Mahoning Valley on Wednesday. Phantoms Head Coach Anthony Noreen and Assistant Coach Rob Rassey, along with team captain Mike Ambrosia and assistant captains Ryan Belonger, Chris Bradley, Mike Gunn and Dylan Margonari all made the trip to deliver the stuffed animals, which were received by JoAnn Stock, the hospital's director of development.
This year the Phantoms collected a total 681 stuffed animals from the Teddy Bear Toss, their largest haul since joining the United States Hockey League. Ambrosia, who assisted on JT Stenglein's first-period goal on Saturday that prompted the downpour of stuffed animals onto the ice, said he was proud to be a part of the moment.
"There were a ton of teddy bears and it was such a great atmosphere to be a part of, especially knowing they going to such a great organization," he said.
In past seasons, the Phantoms have donated stuffed animals to such organizations as the Marine Corps' Toys for Tots program but teamed up with Akron Children's Hospital Mahoning Valley this year. Ambrosia said that he and his teammates were happy for the chance to make a difference for children in need during the holidays.
"We're glad we could give back and hopefully make it a happy holiday season for some kids who might be feeling a bit down," he said. "The hospital does a lot for our team and organization and we just want to help them out and support them as much as we can."
Single game tickets for the 2011-12 season are on sale now. Season ticket and flex plans start at the low price of just $90. Call the Phantoms office today at 330.747.7825 for more information or to make a reservation today! For a complete Phantoms schedule, visit www.youngstownphantoms.com .
