Former Monarchs Defenseman Returns to Kings Line-Up

LOS ANGELES, CA - The Los Angeles Kings, parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, have activated defenseman Alec Martinez from the injured reserve list (upper body injury) and have placed defenseman Willie Mitchell on the injured reserve list, retroactive to December 1 (lower body injury), Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.

Martinez has missed the last 10 games due to the injury, which he suffered on November 12 in a game against Minnesota. In 16 games this season he has two points (both goals) and two penalty minutes. He is expected to play in tonight's matchup against the Minnesota Wild. Martinez suited up for the Monarchs from 2008-11 tallying 20 goals and 39 assists in 147 games.

Mitchell suffered his injury December 1 in a game against Florida. He has played 25 games this season, recording six points (1-56), six penalty minutes and a plus-4 rating.
