Catricala Homers But Generals Fall to Suns Again

JACKSONVILLE, FL - The Generals dropped their second straight to the Suns on Friday night at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville, 4-3. With only three games remaining in the 2011 season, Jackson fell to 28-39 in the second half and 66-71 overall on the year.

Vinnie Catricala hit his fifth homer in his last seven games and was 1-for-3 with two RBI and the homer. Chih-Hsien Chiang was the only Generals with double digit hits finishing 2-for-4. Kyle Skipworth led the Suns with a 2-for-4 game and a run scored.

Jackson starter Kenn Kasparek (5-5) took the loss and surrendered four runs (three earned)on six hits in 4 2/3 innings. Jacksonville starter Bryan Evans (3-1) won for the Suns and Jhan Marinez saved his second straight game. Generals reliever Brian Moran tossed 1 2/3 innings scoreless upping his scoreless streak to 12 straight outings and 18 innings.

Trailing 1-0 in the fourth, Catricala smacked his 10th homer over the left field boards and tied the game at 1-1. The Suns answered with a bang in the bottom of the inning as Ryan Curry hit a 2-run shot to left placing the Suns back ahead 3-1.

The Suns made it 4-1 in the fifth and the Generals would begin to climb back into the game getting a sacrifice fly from Catricala in the sixth and RBI groundout from Brandon Bantz in the seventh. That was as close as Jackson got Friday, falling 4-3.

The Generals continue their final series of the season on Saturday night in Jacksonville, FL with game time set for 6:05 CDT. LHP James Gillheeney (0-3, 6.68) makes the start for Jackson against LHP Jose Alvarez (2-5, 5.16) for Jacksonville.
