DES MOINES, IA, August 15, 2011 - The Energy Always Foundation, a non-profit branch of the 2011 NBA D-League Champion Iowa Energy, will hold a school supply drive this Tuesday through Friday at the team's office.
Fans are encouraged to visit www.IowaNBA.com for a list of supplies needed by local elementary school students. Upon purchasing, donations can be brought to the Energy office, located on the south end of Wells Fargo Arena, anytime between 9am-4pm this week. Cash donations will also be accepted, which will be used to purchase additional supplies for the students, including backpacks.
"We have heard some stories of children who aren't able to accumulate all the school supplies they need, and this was a great chance for us to help," said Energy guard Moses Ehambe, who is also heading up the foundation. "The Energy franchise was brought to Des Moines to be a part of a community, and we are trying to make sure that we leverage the attention we get to help the youth in the area".
Anyone who donates to the drive will receive a Buy One-Get One Free coupon to any Energy game in December.
