Missoula PaddleHeads News Release

GREAT FALLS, MONT - The Missoula Osprey had a win snatched from them by the Great Falls Voyagers on Sunday at Centene Stadium, as the hosts scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth to come away with a 4-3 win in front of 883 fans.

Frank Santana (0-3) surrendered a one-out double to Kyle Eveland, who moved to third on a throwing error by Ty Linton and scored on a sacrifice fly to tie the game. Mark Haddow then hit a solo home run to right field to give the Voyagers the win.

The Osprey (0-1, 25-14) scored first, getting a RBI double by Fidel Pena in the top of the third inning to take a 1-0 lead. The Voyagers (1-0, 18-21) would score single runs in the fourth and sixth innings to take a 2-1 lead.

Eric Groff - who entered the game with a 16-game hit streak - extended the string in a big way. With the bases loaded and two out in the top of the seventh, Groff laced a double down the left-field line, scoring Roidany Aguila and Tom Belza, and giving the Osprey a 3-2 lead.

The pitching gave Missoula a chance to win - starter Taylor Siemens pitched five innings, allowing four hits and a run, while reliever Dexter Price allowed four hits and an unearned run in three innings of work.

The Osprey will open a two-game series at Dehler Park against the Billings Mustangs on Monday. Missoula will send right-hander Raymond Hernandez to the mound, and he will oppose Billings left-hander Ismael Guillon.

The Osprey will return home for a five-game homestand beginning Wednesday, August 3. Tickets for all remaining games this season are now on sale at the MSO Hub Box Office, located at 140 N. Higgins, by phone at (406) 543-3300 or online at MissoulaOsprey.com.
