
Stuifbergen Sterling in 4-0 Shutout of Crabs

FORT MYERS, FL (June 27th, 2011) -* Tom Stuifbergen and Dakota Watts combined to shut out the Charlotte Stone Crabs, 4-0, on Monday night at Hammond Stadium and snap a six game losing streak for Fort Myers.
The Miracle staked Stuifbergen to a 1-0 lead in the first inning. After Jhon Goncalves was retired on a groundout by Charlotte starter Kyle Lobstein, Anderson Hidalgo singled into center field. Aaron Hicks followed with a double into left center on a first pitch swing.
On a 1-0 count, Nick Romero forced in a run when Hidalgo scored on a groundout to short. The RBI was Romero's 38th of the season which leads the team.
Fort Myers added three insurance runs in the sixth, recording five hits and sending eight hitters to the plate. Romero led off with a double. After a flyout from Oswaldo Arcia, Danny Rams singled to put runners at the corners with one out.
Designated hitter Ramon Santana jumped on an 0-1 delivery from Lobstein, hammering a high fastball into left field to plate Romero. Jamaal Hawkins followed with a base hit to drive in Rams and then got caught in a rundown. Hawkins stayed alive long enough to allow Santana to score and give the Miracle a 4-0 lead.
Hawkins recorded his second consecutive multi-hit night, finishing 2-for- with a single, a double and a run driven in. Hicks also had a two-hit evening with a single, double and a stolen base in four at-bats.
Stuifbergen (3-4) scattered six hits in seven scoreless innings with a pair of strikeouts and zero walks. Stuifbergen has given up just two runs in his last 25 innings. Watts picked up his ninth save, tossing the eighth and ninth innings.
Lobstein (6-4) threw 5.1 innings and allowed four runs on seven hits with five strikeouts while picking up the loss.
The Miracle (35-40) finish up a three game set with the Stone Crabs (32-42) on Tuesday at Hammond Stadium. Minnesota Twins outfielder Jason Kubel will join Fort Myers on a MLB rehabilitation assignment tomorrow. Logan Darnell is slated to start for the Miracle.
