Danville Dashers News Release
DANVILLE, IL (JUNE 3, 2011)- Danville General Manager and Head Coach Scott Beneke announced today that the city‟s new professional team in the Federal Hockey League will be known as the Danville Dashers. The team‟s new logo is attached to this release.
"We think the team colors and logo look great," says Beneke. "We hope the sports fans of Danville and Vermilion County will like them as well. We‟re excited about the upcoming 2011- 2012 season in the Federal Hockey League."
Danville‟s team Governor Barry Soskin says, "After speaking with numerous people in Dan- ville and the surrounding towns, we came to the conclusion that going with the âold‟ Dasher name was the only way to go. We designed a logo that was not only reminiscent of the former Dashers but also of an era of professional hockey in the community. As such, we feel that the logo serves the team and the community well. We will see you around town."
The Dashers will begin their season this coming fall in the Federal Hockey League, a Single "A" professional league. Rival teams in this league are located in Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York and Ontario, Canada.
Head Coach Scott Beneke and the Danville Dashers have housed their offices at the David S. Palmer Arena 100 W. Main St., Danville, IL Room 143.
