Bees Fight Back Against Cancer

June 2, 2011 - Midwest League (MWL) Burlington Bees

Burlington, IA (June 2, 2011) - The Burlington Bees will host American Cancer Society Night at Community Field on Saturday, June 11th when they take on the West Michigan Whitecaps. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30pm. All Cancer Survivors will receive free admission to the game courtesy of the Bees.

Special American Cancer Society jerseys will be worn by the players and coaches that night. A silent auction for the jerseys will be held throughout the night. All proceeds will go towards the Relay For Life of Des Moines County.

Relay For Life of Des Moines County benefits the American Cancer Society in the local community. Funds raised at Relay For Life will enable the American Cancer Society to support local services and resources for cancer patients and their families. Funds also support critical cancer research and community education programs designed to teach people how to reduce their risk of developing cancer.

The American Cancer Society is dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by saving lives, diminishing suffering and preventing cancer through research, education, advocacy and service.
