Salem Sox to Honor the Life of Randy Savage Before Friday, May 27 Game

SALEM, VA - The Salem Red Sox will honor the life of longtime professional wrestler and former Minor League Baseball player, Randall Poffo, known as "Macho Man" Randy Savage. Savage passed away on Friday, May 20 after being involved in an automobile accident. The first 1,000 fans will receive a free Slim Jim in honor of the 'Macho Man's' longtime endorsement of the product.
"Our thoughts and prayers go out to Randy's friends and family," said Salem Red Sox general manager Todd Stephenson. "The world lost one of its greatest entertainers last week."
Savage held 20 wrestling championships during his career spanning over 20 years. Before his wrestling career, Savage played four seasons in the Minor Leagues in the St. Louis Cardinals, Cincinnati Reds, and Chicago White Sox organizations. An outfielder, Savage posted a .254 career average with 16 homeruns in 289 games.
