(Joliet, IL) The Joliet Slammers unveiled their logo and uniforms with great fanfare at "The Grand Slammer" in March. Now with Opening Day drawing near, the Frontier League's newest franchise is ready to provide fans with more elite entertainment.
It all starts Thursday, May 19th as the Slammers unveil their mascot on Opening Night. All fans receive a free magnetic schedule courtesy of ATI. One lucky fan will win a refrigerator for his magnet from Grant's Appliances. The Chicago Blackhawks' Jim Cornelison will sing the national anthem and Dodgers' legend Maury Wills will be on hand to sign autographs. The first 250 fans will receive a free autographed photo from Wills. Fans can expect pre-game entertainment, great food, great fun and post-game fireworks! First pitch on Opening Night is at 7:05 p.m. but fans are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy all that Silver Cross Field and the Slammers have to offer. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. on Opening Night. Season ticket holders can enter at the South "VIP" Gate beginning at 5:15 p.m.
On Friday, May 20th, all fans will again receive a free magnetic schedule courtesy of ATI. Gates open at 6:05 p.m. for the 7:05 p.m. first pitch with season ticket holders being allowed entrance at 5:45 p.m. at the South "VIP" Gate. Fans will enjoy Silver Cross Field's outstanding food and spectacular post-game fireworks. Q 101 FM will be on site with their street team and vehicle handing out tee shirts and other fun items.
The weekend concludes on Saturday, May 21st as ATI is sponsoring a free Opening Weekend tee shirt for the first 1000 fans to enter Silver Cross Field. Everyone will once again receive a free magnetic schedule and get to enjoy post-game fireworks. First pitch is at 6:05 p.m. with gates opening at 5:05 p.m. Get there early to snag your Opening Weekend shirt! As they will every game, season ticket holders will be allowed entrance at the South "VIP" gate 15 minutes before the rest of the gates open.

Box Office hours are 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Box Office is closed on Sunday but you can buy your tickets anytime on www.jolietslammers.com and while fans are there they can check out the Slammers' exciting promotional schedule for the 2011 season. Individual tickets are only $10 for reserved seats and $5 for lawn seats.
For anyone looking to get a sneak peak of the Slammers at Silver Cross Field, the team is hosting two spring training games. The first is on Sunday, May 15th at 7:05 p.m. against the Normal Cornbelters and the final pre-season game is on Tuesday, May 17th at 7:05 p.m. against the Windy City Thunderbolts. Seating is first come first serve with all tickets costing $5. Admission is free for season ticket holders.
