STATE COLLEGE- 2007 State College Spikes pitcher Daniel Moskos became the first Spikes player to reach the major leagues with the Pittsburgh Pirates when he tossed a scoreless inning of relief in Saturday's game at Colorado.

Moskos was recalled earlier Saturday from Triple-A Indianapolis after reliever Evan Meek was placed on the 15-Day Disabled List. The left-hander retired all three batters he faced in the bottom of the eighth inning of the Pirates 4-1 loss to the Rockies at Coors Field.

The fourth overall selection in the 2007 First-Year Player Draft out of Clemson University, Moskos appeared in 11 games for the Spikes that season, the club's first as a Pirate affiliate.

State College's inaugural 2006 team, which was affiliated with the St. Louis Cardinals, has yielded seven major leaguers -- Allen Craig, Luke Gregerson, Mark Hamilton, Jason Motte, Adam Ottavino, Brendan Ryan and P.J. Walters.

Members of the Spikes 2011 club will begin their collective major league journey Friday, June 17, when State College opens the New York-Penn League season at Williamsport (Phillies' affiliate). The Home Opener at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park is set for Sunday, June 19 against Williamsport. Single-game tickets for the Home Opener and all 38 Spikes regular season home dates are now on sale by visiting the Medlar Field at Lubrano Park Box Office weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., by calling (814) 272-1711, or by visiting www.statecollegespikes.com, where fans can buy and print their tickets.
