Round Rock Express News Release

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Brian Barden was 3-for-4 with two RBI as the Round Rock Express claimed their sixth consecutive win Thursday night with a 6-3 victory over the Oklahoma City RedHawks at Bricktown Ballpark. The Express (11-4), winners of 10 of their last 11, extended the club's best start to a season since joining Triple-A in 2005. The current six-game winning streak is Round Rock's longest since an eight-game run midway through the 2008 season.

Kevin Cash's two-out RBI double snapped a 2-2 tie in the fourth inning, and the Express never relinquished that lead. Esteban German followed with an RBI single. Oklahoma City (4-10) got a run back in the fifth, but Round Rock pulled away with single spots in the sixth and eighth innings.

Meanwhile, starter Derek Hankins (3-0) picked up the win. He allowed three runs on seven hits and one walk with four strikeouts over 7.0 innings. Yhency Brazoban pitched a pair of no-hit, scoreless innings with one walk and four strikeouts for his first save of the season.

Oklahoma City starter Fernando Nieve (1-2) took the loss after allowing five runs on 12 hits and three walks with three strikeouts over 5.2 innings.

All nine Round Rock starters reached safely, eight by way of hits. Six players produced multiple-hit games as the Express out-hit Oklahoma City 15-7. Four of Round Rock's six runs came with two outs as the Express now have 31 two-out RBI and are hitting .289 (52-for-180) with runners in scoring position and two outs.

Round Rock scored two runs on four hits in the top of the first, scoring first-inning runs for the ninth time in 15 games. Doug Deeds tripled with one out, and Barden followed with an RBI single. After Chad Tracy singled and Brad Nelson walked to load the bases, Luis Cruz delivered an RBI single that scored Barden.

The RedHawks tied the game by virtue of Carlos Corporan's second-inning solo homer and Tommy Manzella's third-inning RBI fielder's choice. But Cash's fourth-inning double was the difference maker. Deeds added a two-out RBI single in the sixth; he is 7-for-15 with runners in scoring position and two outs. Barden capped the scoring in the eighth with a two-out RBI single.

German, Deeds, Cruz, Cash and Joey Butler all had two-hit nights. Butler and Cash each scored twice.

Round Rock and Oklahoma City conclude their four-game series Friday with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch at Bricktown Ballpark. The Express have not named a starter, while right-hander Henry Villar (0-0, 10.50 ERA) is the scheduled starter for the RedHawks.
