Tacoma Rainiers News Release

Tacoma, WA - The Tacoma Rainiers announced today that the club will once again partner with South Sound Sports 850-AM to broadcast all 144 of the team's games this season.

Every Rainiers game, both at home and on the road, can be streamed live at the team's website, www.tacomarainiers.com, or by visiting www.kjram.com. Rainiers fans are invited to tune into the Muckleshoot Casino Pre-Game show 15 minutes prior to first pitch and stick around for the Post-Game show, offering highlights from around the Pacific Coast League and a round-up of Major League Baseball scores immediately following the conclusion of the game.

Broadcaster Mike Curto returns as the club's play-by-play announcer, marking his 13th season as the voice of the Rainiers. The California native joined the Rainiers in 1999 following three seasons as broadcaster for Class-A Cucamonga of the California League. Outside of his work with the Rainiers, Curto has called minor league games for teams in Lafayette, IN and Bend, OR, as well as six games as a fill-in announcer for the Montreal Expos.

Curto will be joined in the booth by Pacific Northwest broadcasting legend Bob Robertson during games this season. The 12-time Washington Sportscaster of the Year returns to Cheney Stadium every Monday home game throughout the 2011 season, taking over as Tacoma's play-by-play announcer during the fourth through the sixth innings and providing color commentary throughout the rest of the game. Dubbed ‘Mondays with Bob', the Rainiers are excited to welcome back a Cheney Stadium icon in the New Cheney Stadium.

Robertson makes his way back to Cheney Stadium carrying 25 years of experience calling PCL games with Seattle and Tacoma. The Western Washington University graduate began his broadcasting career in 1948 and has built a resume that includes professional broadcast experience announcing hockey, boxing, basketball and soccer. Robertson is a member of the College Football and Washington State University Halls of Fame and will enter his 45th season as the voice of Cougar football in the fall.

The defending PCL Champion Rainiers begin the 2011 season at Sacramento on Thursday, April 7 at 7:05 p.m. The club returns to Tacoma for the debut of the fully renovated Cheney Stadium on their home opener on Friday, April 15, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
