Reno Bighorns News Release
FORT WAYNE, Ind.- The Reno Bighorns climbed out of an 18-point first-half deficit and used a clutch fourth-quarter effort to defeat the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, 96-91, Thursday night in the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
Fort Wayne (17-21) led by nine through the first period of play, and the Mad Ants augmented their lead to 18 with just fewer than nine minutes remaining in the second quarter. The Bighorns (23-14) cut the lead to 10 at intermission, before taking the lead in the fourth quarter and pulling away in the closing seconds.
The win snaps a brief two-game losing skid for Reno, and the Bighorns have now won eight of their last 10 games.
All five Bighorns starters finished in double figures Thursday, with Marcus Landry leading the way with a game-high 23 points. Anthony Richardson (21 points, 10 rebounds) and Donald Sloan (16 points, 11 rebounds) each chipped-in a double-double for Reno.
The Bighorns dominated the glass on the night, outrebounding the Mad Ants by a 53-to-40 margin, including 22 offensive boards. The 53 rebounds for Reno fell one short of a season high.
Darnell Lazare paced the Mad Ants with 20 points, while Marvin Phillips added 12 points and a team-high 10 rebounds. On the defensive end, the Bighorns forced 17 Fort Wayne turnovers.
The Bighorns and Mad Ants will hook-up again on Friday night in the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. Tip-time is set for 4:30 p.m. PT, and the game can be seen live on NBA Futurecast at www.RenoBighorns.com.
The Bighorns return home March 11-12 to take on the Utah Flash in the Reno Events Center. Tickets are on sale now, and can be purchased by calling (775) 284-2622 or visiting ticketmaster.com or the Silver Legacy box office.
