
Pheasants Re-Sign All-Star 2nd Baseman Anthonsen

Sioux Falls, SD-The Sioux Falls Fighting Pheasants are excited to announce the club has re-signed All-Star second baseman Joe Anthonsen for the upcoming 2011 season.
Anthonsen served as the Pheasants leadoff hitter all season and finished the year with a .327 average. He finished fifth in the league in runs scored (81) and hits (125). Defensively, Anthonsen was the best second baseman in the league. He lead the American Association in fielding percentage at .993 and also led all second baseman in most games played (94), most total chances (561), most put outs (221), most assists (336) and most double plays (97).
"We are thrilled to have Joe back for 2011," said Pheasants manager Steve Shirley. "He proved to be one of the best overall players in the league last year and will be a key part of our success for the upcoming season."
The Cottage Grove, Minnesota native was a member of the North Division All-Star Team in July and helped the Pheasants to a record 63-win season. 2011 will mark Anthonsen's third season in Sioux Falls, he batted .318 with a .413 on-base percentage with the club in 2009.
