Flying Squirrels Set 2011 Concourse Art Contest

RICHMOND, VA- The Richmond Flying Squirrels, Double-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants are holding an art contest open to all elementary school students in the Richmond Metro Area in response to the theme "Nutzy is My Superhero Because...", Sponsored by Allstate and Hudnell Insurance Agency. Selected artwork will be displayed in the concourse throughout the 2011 season.

"Last year's competition added a ton of color to the concourse and the fans loved it," said Flying Squirrels Director of Community Relations and Promotions Christina Shisler. "It was a nice way to get schools and the community involved. We're really excited to have them participate again."

Students may choose any drawing material and are to submit vertically drawn responses to on 8.5 x 11 inch paper. Student's name, grade, teacher, school and school district need to be indicated on the back of the artwork. Three entries per school will be accepted and winners will be notified by Friday, February 11. Artwork submitted that is not drawn according to the guidelines will not be considered. Deadline to enter is Friday, February 4.

Allstate and Hudnell Insurance Agency owner Stephanie Hudnell said "we're excited about continuing another year supporting The Richmond Flying Squirrels and the art contest displaying our local student's talents. It's a fun and exciting environment for fans of all ages. All of us at Hudnell Insurance Agency are glad that Baseball is back in Richmond".

Fifteen winning designs will be blown up to 4x9 foot signs and displayed prominently around the main concourse of The Diamond for the Squirrels' 2011 season. Winning artists will each receive two complimentary tickets to Opening Night, recognition on the field before the game and the unveiling of their artwork at The Diamond.
