DES MOINES, IA. - Ivan Johnson scored 31 points as the Erie BayHawks defeated the Iowa Energy 114-110 Saturday night in Des Moines.
With Erie up 105-104 and 1:19 to play, the BayHawks ran the shot clock down and Nate Linhart drilled a 3-pointer as the shot clock buzzer sounded to give the visitors a four point lead. Erie extended the lead to six before a mini-run from the Energy made the score 111-108 with 34.4 seconds to play. With the clock ticking down the Energy's Kyle Weaver stole an errant pass and appeared headed for a score. But Cedric Jackson raced down court and knocked the ball off Weaver's leg, securing the Erie win.
Iowa was led by Chris Lofton's 24 points while Courtney Sims added 20 points and 10 rebounds. The Energy fall to 10-4 on the season.
Linhart added 20 points and 8 rebounds for the BayHawks, who improve to 7-5 with the win.
Iowa take on Ft. Wayne tomorrow and Tuesday as part of a nine game, nineteen day road trip. The Energy return home on Sunday, January 16th vs. Ft. Wayne. Tickets are available at www.dahlstickets.com, by calling 564-8550 or at the arena box office.
