2011 Roughriders' Coaching Staff Announced

Frisco, TX - The Texas Rangers announced Friday that former Ranger Steve Buechele will return for his second season as manager of the RoughRiders after leading the club to the playoffs in 2010. For Buechele it will be his third season as a minor league Manager after guiding the Bakersfield Blaze to the post-season in 2009.

Pitching coach Jeff Andrews returns for his second full season in Frisco. 2011 will mark his 26th season as a minor league instructor. Andrews also served as the major league pitching coach for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2008. His current position marks his fifth coaching stop at the Double-A level with past experience in Altoona, Portland, Jacksonville, and Tulsa. Andrews began his professional coaching career with the Rangers organization in '86. A right-handed pitcher during his playing days, Andrews was originally selected by the Chicago Cubs in the 26th round of the 1981 draft.

Former big leaguer Brant Brown will be back for his third season as Frisco's hitting coach after spending 2007 and 2008 with Bakersfield. Brown played professionally from 1992-2000 with the Chicago (NL), Pittsburgh, and Florida organizations. Originally selected by Chicago in the third round of the 1992 June draft (Fresno St.), Brown compiled a career .247 average with 45 home runs in 424 career major league games. On June 18, 1998, Brown homered 3 times in one game with the Cubs. He was also a Triple-A All-Star ('96, Iowa).

Eric McMahon joins the 'Riders for the first time in 2011 as the club's Strength and Conditioning Coach. It will mark his third season in the Texas organization after spending the past two years in the same capacity with Bakersfield.

Carlos Olivas will serve as the club's Athletic Trainer after spending the last two season's in Spokane. After graduating from the University of New Mexico in 2000, Olivas worked in the Los Angeles Dodgers Organization from 2001-2008.
