Stampede Close out Homestand this Weekend

The Sioux Falls Stampede close out their five-game homestand this weekend with games against Fargo and Tri-City, Friday and Saturday at the Sioux Falls Arena. The Herd enter the weekend with an 8-4-0 mark and in third place in the Western Conference.

On Friday, the Herd host Fargo (5-9-2) for the second time this season. The Herd are 2-0-0 against the Force, winning 2-1 in Fargo and 2-1 in Sioux Falls.

On Saturday, the Stampede welcome the Tri-City Storm(4-3-4) to the arena. This will be the first game of the season between the two teams. Sioux Falls went 2-2-1 last year against the Storm.

Stampede split over the weekend

The Stampede enter this weekend with a 6-1-0 home record after splitting a pair of games over the weekend. On Friday, Matt Tabrum and Ryan Jacobson scored the lone goals for the Herd who stopped Omaha 2-1 behind a 27 save performance by Stephon Williams.

On Saturday, the Stampede let a 3-1 lead slip away and dropped their first home game of the season, falling 4-3 to the Lincoln Stars. Daniel Doremus posted two goals while Austyn Young recorded a goal and an assist in the loss for the Herd. It marked the first time this season the Stampede fell when leading after two periods (5-1-0).

Xcite Family Fun Night this Saturday!

Saturday night is Xcite Family Fun Center Night with the Stampede! Be sure to stop by their table in the front lobby before or during the game to learn more about what Xcite Family Fun has to offer. A few lucky fans will be invited to participate in an intermission game with Xcite Family Fun.

McDonald's "Skate with the Stampede" Saturday Night

This Saturday night is also the first of two "Skate with the Stampede" nights at the Sioux Falls Arena. Bring your skates to the game and skate with Stampede players for 30 minutes immediately following the game! The arena does not rent skates so we ask that you please bring your own. Fans can skate with the players and receive autographs during the event.

For non-skating fans, a number of Stampede players will be signing autographs outside the Stampede locker room immediately following the game as well!

. Brent Darnell has registered at least a point in each of his last five games, posting six points (1g, 5a) during that time.

. Christian Isackson has seven points (1g, 6a) in his last three games.

. Stephon Williams is 4-1-0 with a 2.23 GAA and a .910 save percentage this season.

. The Stampede have outscored opponents 17-13 in the second period this year.

. The Herd are 7-1-0 when outshooting their opponents.

. The Stampede are 4-3-0 against Western Conference opponents this season.

Micflikier's big weekend leads Charlotte to sweep

Former Stampede forward Jacob Micflikier posted six points in two games over the weekend to lead the Charlotte Checkers to a weekend sweep of Bridgeport in Charlotte, NC. The Checkers are the top affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes.

On Thursday, Micflikier recorded the first hat trick in team history while leading the Checkers to a 6-1 thumping of Bridgeport. The following night, Micflikier assisted on three goals, including the eventual game winner, as the Checkers topped Bridgeport again, 6-5.

Micflikier is currently third on the team in scoring with 15 points (7g, 8a) in 16 games this season. He is also a team best plus-9 on the year. The Checkers are 8-7-1 on the season and in third place in the East Division.

Micflikier played from 2001 to 2003 in Sioux Falls, posting 111 points (55g, 56a).

Connolly, UMD off to fast start

Former Stampede star Jack Connelly and the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs continued their winning ways over the weekend, sweeping Michigan Tech University and improving to 9-1-2 on the season. On Friday, Connolly registered a goal and an assist in a 5-3 win and followed that with three assists the following night in a 4-2 win.

Connolly is tied for the team scoring lead with 18 points (4g, 14a) in just 12 games. He also ranks second with a plus-8 rating. Connolly and the Bulldogs travel to Wisconsin this weekend.
