Louisiana IceGators News Release


LAFAYETTE, LA - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) will drop the puck on its seventh season when the IceGators travel to Mississippi to take on the Surge on Friday, October 22.

The IceGators will remain on the road for the next five games of the season. All of the first six games are against the Mississippi Surge and the Pensacola Ice Flyers.

The 'Gators will finally return to their home in the dome on November 13 and 14 when the Fayetteville FireAntz visit Lafayette. The IceGators return to the road and visit the newest team in the SPHL, Augusta Riverhawks on November 18. The 'Gators will celebrate Thanksgiving with their rivals from Pensacola at 7:05, November 25. The next night the IceGators take on the defending SPHL champion Huntsville Havoc.

Louisiana opens December with the first long-term home stand, playing five in a row and seven out of nine games at home. This home stand gets capped off with a Christmas Day match-up with the Surge.

The 'Gators open the 2011 year at home against the Knoxville IceBears on New Year's Day. Louisiana plays nine games in the Cajun Dome and only four away from the comforts of the dome during January. On the 30th the 'Gators will welcome the newest team to the SPHL, Riverhawks, to the dome.

The IceGators will conclude their first season back in the dome on Thursday, March 3 against Columbus and end the season on the road against Columbus on March 26.

"We are really looking forward to the upcoming season," stated IceGators Head Dave MacIsaac about the schedule. "We have a rough start going on the road at the beginning of the year, but playing the majority of our games at home in the middle of the season and down the stretch will help us through the season."

With the release of the schedule the IceGators are also announcing season tickets and individual game tickets are now on sale. Season tickets can be purchased for $420.00 and children (12 and under) can get season tickets for $210.00. For fans that do not want to buy season tickets flex plans are available, which will allow you to pick your games, for $224.00. Individual game tickets are also on sale for $17.00 and children (12 and under), military personnel, and students for $10.00.

"This will be a very exciting season for the IceGators with the move from Blackham Coliseum to the Cajundome," replied Jennifer Reech, Director of Ticketing for the Louisiana IceGators, when asked about the upcoming season. "We have great entertainment in store for this season, as well as affordable ticket prices for everyone from the college students to the families.
