RiverHawks Sign Winger Lucas Labelle for the 2010-2011 Season

The Augusta RiverHawks Hockey Club announced the signing of left wing Lucas Labelle, for the 2010-2011 inaugural season. The Toronto, Ontario native plays a spirited brand of hockey that combines skill and toughness. Prior to signing with the RiverHawks Labelle played in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and the International Hockey League.

RiverHawks' Head Coach, Brad Ralph, first spotted Labelle at an evaluation camp in Niagara Falls, ON.

"Our fans are expecting the RiverHawks to be tough and gritty along with having good skill," said Ralph. "The thing that I really liked about Lucas was that he had great character and he stuck up for his teammates. He is a middle-weight fighter and he fought twice during the camp."

Labelle began his hockey career in 2003 with the Ajax Axmen of the Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League. In 77 games with the Ajax Axmen, Labelle posted a career high 156 penalty minutes, 13 goals, 26 assists, and 39 points. At 5'8, 191 pounds, Labelle is a sparkplug who is willing to defend his teammates when need be. **

Prior to joining the RiverHawks, Labelle spent time with the Dayton Gems, a member of the International Hockey League during the 2009-2010 season.
