Hellickson Named Baseball America's Player Of The Year

Durham, NC - Baseball America today announced Bulls pitcher Jeremy Hellickson is their 2010 Minor League Player of the Year . He becomes the fourth Durham Bull to win the award, following Andruw Jones (1996), Rocco Baldelli (2002) and Delmon Young (2005).
Hellickson was 12-3 with a 2.45 ERA and 123 strikeouts for the Bulls before being called up to Tampa Bay in August. He pitched for the US Team in the All-Star Futures Game in July and was selected to the International League mid-season and post-season all-star teams along with being named the International League's Pitcher of the Year.
The honor adds to what has been a banner year for the Durham Bulls. Along with Hellickson's accolades, Charlie Montoyo was named International League Manager of the Year, Dan Johnson was named League MVP and Scott Strickland was named the League's Sports Turf Manager of the Year. The Bulls also compiled the best record in Triple-A Baseball this year with a record of 88-55.
Durham faces the Louisville Bats in Game Three of the Governors' Cup Playoffs at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Friday, September 10th at 7:05 PM.
