Thad Weber Named IL Pitcher of the Week
Published on September 7, 2010 under International League (IL1)
Toledo Mud Hens News Release
Though he entered the week with just one career start above the Double-A level, Toledo's Thad Weber is the IL Pitcher of the Week. The right-hander was brilliant in a pair of starts for the Mud Hens, posting a 2-0 record and leading the League with 15.0 innings pitched for the week.
Weber defeated the two teams from the IL West who have made the postseason, beginning with Louisville last Tuesday. He worked 8.0 innings against the Bats, allowing just three hits and one run on a solo home run by Danny Dorn in the 2nd as the Mud Hens went on to win 4-1.
Five days later against Columbus, Weber tossed 7.0 innings of six-hit baseball, surrendering a solo homer to Wes Hodges in the 7th after the Hens already had a 9-0 lead. The two victories for Weber are his first at the Triple-A classification.
25-year-old Thad Weber is in his third year of professional baseball after being chosen by Detroit in the 16th round of the 2008 draft out of the University of Nebraska. Before his late-August promotion, Weber was 9-12 with a 4.08 ERA for Double-A Erie this season. Weber is a native of Lincoln, Nebraska.
