MacDonald & Oliver-Dares Designated for Assignment by Sea Dogs

SAINT JOHN, NB --- Saint John Sea Dogs Director of Hockey Operations Mike Kelly announced today that forward Devon Oliver-Dares and defenseman Spencer MacDonald have been designated for assignment. MacDonald will return to the Summerside Western Capitals (MHL) while Olivier-Dares is expected to rejoin the Dartmouth Ice Dawgs (NSMMHL).

MacDonald, 18, was acquired by the Sea Dogs in a trade with the Montreal Juniors last month while Oliver-Dares, 16, was selected by Saint John in the third round (54th overall) of the 2010 QMJHL Entry Draft. Both players will remain affiliated with the Sea Dogs.

Saint John's 2010-11 campaign begins on Friday night when the P.E.I. Rocket visit the Port City for a 7:30pm showdown at Harbour Station. A pair of banners will be raised to the arena rafters prior to puck drop on Friday in recognition of the Sea Dogs' highly-successful 2009-10 season. The first 5,000 fans in attendance at this game will receive a free replica banner magnet courtesy of founding partners Irving Oil and Moosehead Breweries.

Sea Dogs Opening Weekend will continue on Saturday afternoon when the team's fourth annual fan festival is held at Harbour Station's westernmost entrance beginning at 4pm. At 7pm, Saint John will take on the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles in the second game of the season for both clubs.
