Rangers Open Exhibition Schedule with 8-3 Win

The Rouyn Noranda Huskies arrived in Kitchener to kick off the Rangers 2010 pre-season schedule. The Rangers had previously visited the Huskies in 2009.

The visitors quickly opened up the scoring on the powerplay when Junior Harris beat Brandon Maxwell when he picked up a rebound and deposited it into an empty net.

The Rangers answered back midway through the period when Gabriel Landeskog picked up the puck behind the net and scored on his own rebound after being stopped on his wrap around attempt.

Jeff Skinner made it 2-1 with a powerplay marker only moments after Jeremy Morin had hit the cross bar from the face-off circle.

The Huskies scored their second powerplay goal when Taylor Lambke converted a back door pass.

Matt Tipoff scored shorthanded to give the Rangers a 3-2 lead at 4:33 of the 2nd period. Morin scored two consecutive goals to increase the Rangers lead to 5-2.

Both goals coming off rebounds. Tippoff scored his 2nd goal of the game when he re-directed a Ryan Murphy point shot sending the Rangers into the second intermission with a 6-2 lead.

Matia Marcantuoni opened the scoring in the 3rd period when he scored on an end to end rush.

The Huskies scored their 3rd powerplay goal of the game when Harris picked up a loose puck behind the net and put it into an empty net behind Maxwell.

Zac Lorentz closed out the scoring when he re-directed an Evan McEneny point shot.

Michael Catenacci, Tyler Randell, Jason Akeson, Jesse Young, Cody Sol and Charlie Dodero did not dress for the Rangers.

The Rangers return to home ice on Sunday, September 5th when they play host to the Brampton Battalion at 2:00pm following the Rangers Annual Fan Appreciation BBQ. Proceeds from the game support Children's Wish.

The activities and BBQ are scheduled to begin at 11:00am and run until game time at 2:00pm. The bbq and activities will take place in the upper and lower parking lots of the Aud (Ottawa Street side).

This is the first opportunity to meet and greet the newest Rangers players as well as take part in a number of activities from our show and shine car show to dunk tank, inflatable rides and more.

Season tickets are available for pick-up starting Sunday, September 5th at 10:00am. The box office will remain open until 3:00pm that day.
