
Kings Sign Kolomatis to Three-Year Deal

LOS ANGELES, CA - The Los Angeles Kings, the parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, have agreed to terms on a three-year entry level contract with defenseman David Kolomatis, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.
Kolomatis, 21, played in 76 regular season games this past season with the Monarchs and he ranked tied for second among club defensemen in points with 29 (tied for seventh among league rookie defensemen), tied for second among club defensemen in goals with eight, tied for second among club defensemen in assists (21) and tied for first among club defensemen with five power-play goals. He also played in 15 playoffs games with the Monarchs, recording one point (an assist) and two penalty minutes.
Originally selected by the Kings in the fifth-round (126th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, the 5-foot-11, 189-pounder is a native of Livingston, New Jersey. In 2008-09 with Owen Sound of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) he ranked first among club defensemen in points, goals and assists before playing in four regular season games and 16 postseason games with Providence (AHL). In 2007-08 with Owen Sound, he ranked first among club defensemen in points, second on the club in assists (first among club defensemen) and in 2006-07 with the same club he ranked eighth among OHL rookie defensemen in points.
