Wichita Thunder News Release
WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Thunder announced two more roster additions on Thursday, signing center Chris Greene and re-signing defenseman Jason Woll.
Greene returns to Wichita after a terrific campaign with the SPHL's Mississippi Surge. Greene set career-highs with 16 goals and 51 points while notching 144 PIM in 56 games played. The Massena, NY native spent parts of two seasons with the Thunder, arriving in a December 2007 trade with Arizona for Tyler Liebel, and leaving in a January 2009 deal with Corpus Christi in exchange for Mike Zbriger. Greene, who will be 25 by opening night, has carried a reputation as a gritty center since his rookie season in 2006-07 where he totaled 25 points and 182 PIM in 63 games for the Sundogs.
Woll returns to the Thunder for his second full season of professional hockey, and third overall. The Portland, OR native picked up two goals and six assists with 91 PIM in 62 games for the Thunder last year, and was one of only four players to appear in more than 60 games. The 26-year old made his pro debut in late-2009 with the ECHL's Cincinnati Cyclones, who signed him out of the Milwaukee School of Engineering. Woll played in Cincinnati's final 10 regular season games before helping the Cyclones to a deep playoff run in which he added three assists in 15 postseason contests.
The Thunder opens the 2010-11 season on Friday, October 16th against the Tulsa Oilers at the BOK Center. Wichita's home opener is the following night at 7:05 p.m. at the INTRUST Bank Arena. The Thunder also hosts the Oilers for an exhibition on Saturday, October 9th at the Wichita Ice Center. Tickets for the preseason match are just $10 General Admission and are on sale now.
