Game Notes: Worcester enters its last home game of the 2010 regular season in the fourth and final playoff spot. They will send Chris Farley to the mound, who will be making his 17th start of the season and 3rd start against the Skyhawks. In his last start on August 27th against Brockton, he lasted a season high eight innings, striking out a season high 11 while giving up nine hits and surrendering five earned runs, picking up the loss in the 5-4 defeat. His best start was his complete game seven-inning shutout against the Pittsfield Colonials on June 13th, giving up four hits and striking out three Colonials. Against Sussex this season, he is 0-2 with a 7.50 ERA. He has struck out eight batters while walking five and giving up 17 hits. The probable starter for the Colonials is Chris Nowlin, who will be making his third start of the season. In two games, the 6'4" righty from Scottsdale, Arizona has given up 11 hits, 11 walks, and struck out four in four and a third innings pitched. His last time out on August 28th was his better start, going three innings and giving up just two earned runs and four hits in the no-decision as the Skyhawks lost 7-4 to the Colonials.
Last Night: Worcester stayed on the winning side of things, getting their fourth win in a row with a 10-7 walkoff win. Worcester got on the board 3-0 in the first, getting a two-out, three-run homerun from Alex Trezza off of Skyhawks starter Tim Stringer. Sussex then finally got Worcester starter Justin Knoff after he went the first three innings facing the minimum nine batters. After intentionally walking Kris Sanchez to load the bases, Ryan Boelsen took a 1-1 pitch and put it into deep right center to clear the bases and tie the game at three. In the bottom of the fifth, Can-Am player of the month Mark Minicozzi hit a two run double to put the Tornadoes up 5-3. After Minicozzi got to third, Alex Trezza got his fourth RBI of the game with a sac fly and Worcester went up by three. In the seventh, Worcester got another run after second baseman Rene Ruiz made an error on a Danny Santiesteban groundball, allowing Nick Salotti to score. However, Sussex would erase the four run deficit in the top of the eighth. After leadoff singles by Kraig Binick and Joe Persichina,, Carl Loadenthal would get an RBI single to score run followed by a three run homerun by Caleb Stewart to tie the game up at seven. Sussex would then go up 9-7, getting runs from RBI doubles by Nick Giarraputo and Rene Ruiz. However, Worcester would use ninth inning dramatics for the second time in three games. Alex Trezza hit his second three homerun of the night to right field to give the Tornadoes the walkoff win. Trezza was 2-for-2 with two homeruns, two walks, and seven RBI's.
