
Bandits Take Opener With 6-3 Win Over Cedar Rapids

DAVENPORT, Iowa - Despite being outhit 10-8 the Bandits were able to open up their four-game series with the Cedar Rapids Kernels on a winning note. Quad Cities took the opener 6-3 after taking an early 6-2 lead, they never looked back.
Shelby Miller (7-5) was unable to earn a decision in the Bandits victory after going just four innings and surrendering two runs on four hits. Miller struck out five before giving way to Nick Greenwood (5-4). Greenwood picked up the win, his first with the Bandits and fifth on the season. He didn't allow a run through two innings, scattering three hits. Jose Rada (5) chalked up his fifth save in as many attempts after throwing two scoreless innings for the Bandits.
Rainel Rosario and Ted Obregon led the way for Quad Cities at the plate. Each went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Rosario scored a pair of runs while Obregon crossed the plate once. Matt Adams and Devin Goodwin each added an RBI while Adams extended his league lead in doubles (41).
Tyler Kehrer (5-5) was charged with his fifth loss of the season after he was touched for six runs, five earned, through four innings. Suammy Baez shut the door for the Kernels throwing the final four scoreless innings for Cedar Rapids. He scattered just two hits and fanned six.
The Bandits and Kernels continue their series on Sunday afternoon when Michael Blazek (7-3) and Stephen Locke (7-7) square off at Modern Woodmen Park. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. with the gates opening up at 11:30 a.m. for the second of this four-game set.
