Broll and Torquato Participlate in Historic NHL RDO Camp

The Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League have announced that forward David Broll and former Otter Zack Torquato will participate in the 2010 NHL Research, Development and Orientation Camp Fueled by G Series on August 18 and 19 in Etobicoke, Ontario.
The purpose of the camp is for team officials to get a look at possible rules changes -- with the extra benefit that 33 of the top 2011 Draft-eligible prospects will show off their skills while bringing those changes to life. Torquato and former Sudbury Wolves forward John Kurtz are the two draft-ineligible players that will be participating.
"This Camp has the bonus element of giving general managers and their staffs an early season look at many of the players whose names they will be calling out as their teams' top-round selections in the June 2011 Entry Draft in St. Paul," said Director of the NHL Central Scouting E.J. McGuire on NHL.com. "These are some of the most talented players available to execute the unique skills and strategies which the camp is designed to test and evaluate."
In all, 20 forwards, 12 defensemen and three goaltenders were picked for the camp. Of the 35 players, 14 come from the Ontario Hockey League.
Broll is currently with Team Canada at the Memorial of Ivan Hlinka as they prepare for tomorrow's semifinal match against the Czech Republic. Torquato is readying for his first full professional with the American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs.

The Otters begin training camp in Erie Monday August 30 with the Eighth Annual Champions for Education Golf Tournament. The lone home preseason game at Tullio Arena takes place Saturday, September 4 at 5:00 p.m. against the Niagara IceDogs. Single game tickets for the preseason game and all regular season games go on sale Monday, August 23 at 10:00 a.m.
