(Central Islip, N.Y., August 2, 2010) - The Long Island Ducks and Esurance, the direct-to-consumer personal lines auto insurance company, have teamed up in an effort to help fans do their part for the environment on their way to the ballpark. This year, Ducks fans are encouraged to carpool to Suffolk County Sports Park. And doing so is now easier than ever through the Esurance carpool service.
"The Ducks are always looking for new ways to help increase awareness of earth-friendly initiatives," says Ducks General Manager, Michael Pfaff. "We are excited to partner with Esurance to provide fans with rideshare opportunities."
The Esurance carpool service, which is offered through Zimride, provides an easy-to-use site where Ducks fans can set up carpools to Suffolk County Sports Park. The site allows drivers and passengers to either offer or find a ride and meet up with others heading to the ballpark. The initiative is aimed at helping to minimize the number of cars being driven to games, which in turn helps reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
Fans can sign up to carpool by visiting www.esurance.com/carpool . Once there, they can offer and find rides by simply creating a free account and providing some basic info such as address and departure/return times. It is an easy way to share rides with friends, coworkers, and fellow Ducks fans who are looking to save money and make a collective difference for the environment.
