Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC News Release
Pittsburgh, PA-Following a back-to-back weekend, the Riverhounds (5-5-6) return home for a three game home stand. The Real Maryland Monarchs (3-7-7) will travel to Pittsburgh to kick-off the final home stand of the season for the fourth and final meeting between the two Clubs. The match is slated for a 7:00 PM start at Chartiers Valley Stadium.
This weekend's clash between the Riverhounds and Monarchs should be a battle in the middle third. In the previous three matches, the defense for both Clubs have been on form and conceded only 2 goals, with the Riverhounds recording both in the last meeting.
Coach Evans comments on this weekend's match, "We must continue to play our style of soccer and believe in what we are trying to do."
Veteran experience combined with young ambition has propelled the Riverhounds up the ladder in the League standings. Forward Chad Severs and goalkeeper Hunter Gilstrap have provided the team with stability on both ends of the field; while Captain Travis MacKenzie and rookie Alex Weekes have controlled the tempo of the match in the middle of the park.
As the season rapidly comes to a close, the Riverhounds are in good position to earn a playoff berth. This weekend's matchup against the Monarchs could provide the Riverhounds with the momentum needed to secure a spot in the post-season.
