-SPIKES HIT SECOND HALF AT HOME: After the second off day of the season, the State College Spikes come back home to restart the SawBuck Series at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park against the Williamsport Crosscutters. The 'Cutters swept the Spikes in the opening three games of the year, but State College rebounded to take three in a row to even the all-time series at 27-27.

-LAST GAME: The State College Spikes saw their team-record scoreless innings streak snapped at 28, but received three hits each from Cole White and Matt Curry to earn a 6-4 win over the Mahoning Valley Scrappers on Monday night at Eastwood Field. White knocked in three runs for the Spikes, while Zack Dodson earned his first career victory.

-CAIN RISES TO THE OCCASION: Left-hander Colton Cain gets the ball tonight for State College. Cain made his first start for the Spikes on Thursday at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, striking out the first nine Auburn batters he faced before yielding two runs on three hits in the fourth. The eighth-round draft pick of the Pirates out of Waxahachie (TX) High School in 2009, Cain has also made two scoreless one-inning relief appearances on the season.

-CROSSCUTTERS SEND BUCHANAN OUT: Right-hander David Buchanan will head to the mound for Williamsport this evening. Buchanan made his first start of the year against State College on July 1, allowing two runs in the first inning before exiting. The righty was the Phillies' seventh-round choice in 2010 out of Georgia State, where a finger injury derailed his junior season at the halfway mark. Buchanan earned his first pro win on Thursday.

-WALDRON THE PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Spikes right-hander Tyler Waldron was named the New York-Penn League's Pitcher of the Week on Monday. Waldron has a streak of 14 straight scoreless innings, 11 of which came in two starts against Auburn last week.
