Dunedin, FLA - JULY 2010 - Lil' Iguana Children's Safety Foundation and the Dunedin Blue Jays are announcing the start of their summer scholarship contest for the children in the Pinellas County School System.

Lil' Iguana and the teams will be fundraising together throughout the summer to fund the back to school scholarships that will be given out in August at a special Blue Jays home game. The scholarships will be for school supplies and clothing that will help the families of the recipients ease the burden for back to school costs while helping boost the confidence and esteem of the children.

This contest is open to children in grades 1st through 8th. At least one winner per grade level will be selected.

There are two ways for children to apply for the scholarships. Submissions will be made through artwork or a short essay. Registration forms, and contest rules can be picked up or dropped off at all home games and local corporate partners. Local area business leaders and the Dunedin Blue Jays will be selecting the winners.

The top 5 winners overall in 1st through 5th grades will have their schools awarded with a Lil Iguana Children's Safety Foundation show to be held during the 2010 / 2011 school year.
