
Toledo Walleye Sign Another Pair for the 2010-11 Season

(TOLEDO, OH) - The Toledo Walleye and Head Coach Nick Vitucci have announced that the team has signed forwards Scooter Smith and Mike Walsh to contracts for the 2010-11 season.
Scooter Smith
For Smith, the upcoming campaign will be the fifth in Toledo for the 29-year-old native of Calgary, Alberta. During parts of his previous four seasons in Toledo, Smith has averaged nearly a point-per-game, playing in 163 games and recording 137 points (54g, 83a).
During his professional career that began in 2002, Scooter has garnered 72 goals and 114 assists in 251 games. Smith was signed last season on December 9th to a contract with the Walleye and collected 13 goals and 16 assists.
During the 2009-10 season, Smith had three two-goal games with Toledo and a season-high three assists on March 5 versus Trenton. Scooter played in three playoff games for Toledo against the Charlotte Checkers (1 g, 1 a)
Mike Walsh
Walsh, a 27-year-old native of Royal Oak, Michigan, returns to Toledo where he played most of the 2006-07 season. The former 5th round draft choice (2002) of the New York Rangers has spent the last two seasons with the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League. In 47 career AHL games, Mike has scored 6 goals with one assist. With Toledo in 06-07, Walsh collected 14 goals with 26 assists in 66 games played. During his college career at Notre Dame, Mike appeared in 130 games with 25 goals and 29 helpers. His nine game-winning goals rank 9th all-time in Notre Dame history.

The Toledo Walleye will begin the regular season on Friday, October 15 at 7:00 PM in Wheeling. The home opener will be Saturday, October 16th at 7:00 pm when the Walleye host Wheeling at the Huntington Center. Ticket packages are on sale now and group outings are being reserved. The Toledo Walleye play all of their home games at the Huntington Center in downtown Toledo. The Walleye are the proud ECHL affiliate of the 2010 Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks and the Detroit Red Wings.
