Palm Beach Cardinals News Release

Jupiter, FL- The Palm Beach Cardinals (45-34) beat the Jupiter Hammerheads (26-51) tonight at Roger Dean Stadium by a score of 3-2. Chris Swauger's RBI triple in the ninth inning off of Steve Cishek (0-4) scored D'Marcus Ingram to lift Palm Beach over division rival Jupiter. The Cardinals and Hammerheads split the series as yesterday's contest was postponed due to rain and will be made up as part of a double-header Friday, August 27th.

Ramon Delgado (1-0) threw two scoreless innings in relief and struck out three to record his first win of the year and lowered his season ERA to 0.69.

Both starters pitched admirably and were each deserving of a win. Kevin Thomas (ND) allowed one run on six hits and struck out three over five 1/3 innings. Thomas is now 3-0 with a 1.05 ERA in his last four appearances. Jupiter starter Graham Johnson (ND) allowed one unearned run and struck out five Cardinals in six innings of work. The right-hander has not allowed an earned run over 11 innings.

Charlie Cutler finished 3-for-4 while Alex Castellanos went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

Palm Beach opens up a five-game road trip beginning tomorrow in Bradenton. Scott Schneider is the probable Palm Beach starter and will look to keep the Cardinals in the win column. Palm Beach will return home on Saturday, July 10th for a brief three-game home stand.
