FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles and OtterBox announced today that the Fort Collins-based company has donated a total of $7,330 to the Colorado Eagles Foundation. Via a generous program run throughout the 2009-10 hockey season, OtterBox, a manufacturer of protective cases for handheld technology, pledged to donate $10 to the Colorado Eagles Foundation every time a visiting player entered the penalty box at the Budweiser Events Center during an Eagles game.
The year-end total of the penalty box donations added up to $2,330, which was supplemented by an extra $5,000 donation from OtterBox after the season. The entire $7,330 will be earmarked for the Poudre Valley Health System Cancer Center, one of several local causes that the Eagles focus on through their foundation.
"The Colorado Eagles have a great reputation for giving back in Northern Colorado and that's something we wanted to be a part of," said Curt Richardson, OtterBox founder and CEO. "Not only are we big hockey fans, but we really support the important work the Colorado Eagles and their Foundation are doing in our community."
Added Kevin McGlue, who heads up the Colorado Eagles Foundation in addition to his duties as the teams' broadcaster, "We'd like to thank OtterBox for not only supporting this program and the community through the penalty box donations, but even more for their generous additional donation after the season. They are quickly becoming one of Northern Colorado's finest businesses and community members, and we're proud to work with them."
