Salem Red Sox News Release
SALEM, VA - The Salem Red Sox, Advanced Class A Affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, have finished constructing a to-scale replica of historic Fenway Park inside the gates at Lewis-Gale Field named "Scotts Mini Fenway."
"We are excited to extend our partnership with the Boston Red Sox to support the Salem Red Sox and Mini Fenway Park. It's another great way for the Scotts Company to connect with Red Sox Nation", said John Price, Senior Brand Manager of The Scotts Company. The Salem Red Sox will host a grand opening for the park on Saturday, June 19th from 2pm-5pm.
"We are extremely excited about the official opening of Scott's Mini Fenway," said Salem Red Sox General Manager, Todd Stephenson. "It is a great new amenity to Lewis Gale Field." Admission to the Grand Opening of Scotts Mini Fenway is free to the public.
"A night at Lewis-Gale Field with the Salem Red Sox has always been the best sports entertainment value in the valley, and now with the addition of this whiffle ball field, configured like Fenway Park, it just got even better," commented City of Salem Mayor, Randy Foley.
Activities will include a whiffle ball tournament for teams of 2-6 people, free hot dogs and ice cream, free balloon animals and face painting by Ziggy the Clown, appearances by the Salem Red Sox players and mascots, sidewalk chalk, free inflatable rides, arts and crafts in the birthday zone, and other children's activities courtesy of the Roanoke Valley YMCA. All fans that attend the event can purchase a box seat ticket to that night's game for only $1. The event is sponsored by Scotts, Comcast, K92 and Ziggy's Entertainment.
