Texas Legends News Release
Five months before their first game in team history, the Texas Legends have already sold 13,000 tickets to a fan-base growing by the hour.
Legends Owners Donnie Nelson and Evan Wyly hoped for strong sales in the team's first season, but never expected to be in the upper tier of the NBA Development League in ticket sales months before any Legends officially take the court.
We have had an absolute blast and the response from our fans has been legendary!" Nelson commented. "Sales are rocking and so will the house! Thank you Texas!"
The Legends inaugural season will tip-off this November.
"We appreciate the support from Texas Legends fans and look forward to a great season with the rising stars of the NBA and family-friendly entertainment" Wyly commented.
Some sections are already sold out for every game of the 2010-2011 season.
"I'm excited but not surprised," said team President Bill Boyce. "The Texas Legends offer kidtastic family fun, business development opportunities, and the chance to live history with Coach Nancy Lieberman."
The Legends only revealed their Lone Star State-inspired logo on May 22, and their team name on April 12, yet the mystery did not prevent any fans from snatching up season tickets, surprising officials from other league teams all the way up to the NBA league office.
Anticipating the ticket sales only to continue, the Legends will give whoever buys the 15,000th ticket a prize consisting of autograph items from the Legendary staff of Owners Donnie Nelson and Evan Wyly, Head Coach Nancy Lieberman, and President of Basketball Operations Spud Webb, as well as Legends apparel, and gift cards to local businesses.
