Chicago Bandits News Release
ELGIN-Nicole Pauly has been selected as the newest Bandits team member after an extraordinary performance at open tryouts on Saturday, May 29, that included a diving stop up the middle during infield drills. Pauly signed her rookie contract Tuesday, June 1 to make it official.
Tryouts were extremely tough this year as 30 girls, from a variety of colleges, showed up and gave exceptional performances. Participants included Megan Hill from the University of Southern Mississippi, Lauran Ziegler from Florida Gulf Coast University, and Kara Foster from the University of Utah. Pauly was awarded a contract with the Bandits after displaying exceptional skills at tryouts.
Bill Sokolis, President and CEO of the Bandits, was very impressed with Pauly's performance at tryouts, "I'm a huge fan of Northwestern kids and we're very happy to have her aboard."
Pauly grew up in Palatine, Ill. and is familiar with the Chicago Bandits organization. "I grew up around here and knew about the Bandits and they are such a great organization," commented Pauly, "extending my college career here will be awesome."
Pauly ended her senior season at Northwestern University with an incredible .644 slugging percentage, 39 hits and led her team with 36 runs scored.
The Bandits home opener kicks off the 2010 season on Sunday, June 20 at 5:05 pm at Judson University. For tickets to see Nicole Pauly and the Chicago Bandits, call the Bandits box office at 877-7BANDIT.
*Pauly's signing is pending National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) approval and is expected to be approved by the league in the immediate future.
